How to setup cookie notification banner on your website to make it GDPR compliant

Note: This article refers to the legacy version of the Website Builder. If you signed up to the HostPapa Website Builder after March 11 2020, you’re on the new version of the Website Builder. For help, go here.

Follow these steps to create a notification banner to inform your customers that you are using cookies on your website:

  1. Log into your account and go to HostPapa Dashboard
  2. Go to My Website tab and then click on Launch.
  3. Once in the Website Builder, go to Settings.
  4. From the left menu, click on Privacy.
  5. Activate the button next to Show Cookie Notification.
  6. In the Notification text box, you can also edit the text that will be displayed on your banner. However, if you prefer, you can keep the default text.
  7. If you want to personalize your button text, you can also do that.
  8. Click on Preview to check your banner before saving it.
  9. A new window with the preview will appear. Click on Ok, got it to go back to the banner editor.
  10. When you are happy with your banner, click on the Save Changes button.

When website visitors click the button to accept the use of cookies on your website, the banner will disappear. However, if they don’t accept it, the banner will be displayed during their entire visit to your site.

As you may get website visitors from a country that legally requires a notification informing about the use of cookies, we recommend enabling the cookie banner notification regardless of your current location.
