How to Add a Flash Banner to the Top of your Page

Note: This article refers to the legacy version of the Website Builder. If you signed up to the HostPapa Website Builder after March 11 2020, you’re on the new version of the Website Builder. For help, go here.

You can add a Flash banner to your site, but not in a style that has a changeable banner. This is because the banner area does not support .swf files.

Instead, you can choose a style that does not have a banner image area and place a Flash Widget at the top of the page. Here are some examples of styles that allow you to do this:

  • Squeaky Clean
  • Darkened
  • Midnightalley

Once you have selected your style, here’s how to add a Flash file to your page:

  1. Click on the Widgets menu.
  2. Drag the Flash SWF Widget (located in Widgets > Media) onto the top of your page in the banner position.
  3. You can either upload a new Flash file or browse for existing files.
  4. Once you have selected your file, it will display in the editing dialog box.
  5. If necessary, edit the width, height, alignment and margin of the file.
  6. Click Save.

Please note: By upgrading to the Premium or Enterprise packages, you will have access to the Site CSS feature where you can use CSS coding to remove the banner area.
